on buying postcards

confession:
i collect off-the-wall postcards
(justification: they inspire my writing, ok?)

so.
i picked up a postcard of this
rather scruffy guy
cut off, T
cross necklace,
dark glasses,
long hair.
but there was something,
something in his stance,
and you had to believe that
he could conquer the world.

and i picked up another postcard.
of a very, very geeky guy.
but something in his
eyes (framed by way-huge-o glasses) said,
"i don't care what you think about me"

so i bought them both.
and brought them home.
only to discover,
that i had purchased
John Lennon
and
Bill Gates.
