Why rail we
against the rebellious
kingdoms of earth,
and yet fail to admit
that we have long since
scrubbed the motto
?in God we trust?
from the tablets
of our own hearts?

Lest any object
to so bold a statement,
tell me,
how else can we explain
worry,
lack of joy,
apathy,
restlessness
in hearts ?at rest?
in the Sovereign?
May we seek
to live out the truths
we claim to possess
e'er we scorn
the heathen
who honestly
removes
the credo
by which
he no longer lives.
