a medieval costume

A medieval costume party.
And Ben needs a costume.
Here's one of the many helpful suggestions.

"He could always buy an old wedding dress, cut it up the front, and go as an elf."

Should you happen to have a more cost-effective (and less embarrassing) medieval costume suggestion, feel free to pass it along.

i believe gunnysacks were an integral part of every medieval wardrobe, but i dunno if that'd be any less embarassing. so much for helpful input...

Good basic medieval costume: dark slacks (best brown) with shoes that could pass for boots or real boots, and a tunic top. Tunics are really easy to make. It's basically a rectangle, with a hole cut out for the head, and the sides sewn together (leave holes for the arms to go through. Make it out of a rough, non-colorful fabric, and wear a white long-sleeve shirt underneath.

Check out the SCA for other tips and pictures and such.
