accident of reading

last night,
i was reading poetry
by my two favorite poets
(cs lewis and ts eliot),
and i stumbled across these two tidbits
(from different books, mind you)
in the same evening.

"When the evening is spread out against the sky
Like a patient etherized on a table"
(from "The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock by TS Eliot)

"For twenty years I've stared my level best
To see if evening--any evening--would suggest
A patient etherized upon a table;
In Vain. I simply wasn't able."
(from "A Confession" by CS Lewis)

oh, the joy of poetry :)
